The Return of Rob's Rapid Fire pt.2 (BROCKHAMPTON, WrestleMania 37, Spring Seasonal Anime, Etc.)

What's up everyone, Hope everyone is staying safe and positive, wanted to bring back something I did back a couple of years but also similar to the "things I enjoyed in quarantine" piece I did. So here we go.

ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE by BROCKHAMPTON

*sigh* I think I'm getting too old for this shit. 2017, I was a huge BROCKHAMPTON fan, I've enjoyed their style of music, videos, energy, bought their albums, I just fucking loved this "Boyband". After the whole Ameer situation and two albums later, my fandom had died down. I haven't gone back and listened to saturation series in two years. I wasn't sure cause I got older and my taste in music had matured and changed over time, just a phase I had, could've been the fandom itself that turned me off, or something I am not even sure yet. I gave the new album a spin, I enjoyed two lead singles and the features were interesting but man.....this wasn't it at all.

Album started off strong, JPEG killed his verse on "CHAIN ON" and Ferg and Rocky weren't too bad on "BANKROLL" but I honestly tuned out for the rest of the project. Nothing wasn't horrendous but nothing stuck out to me. Things do switch up towards the end of the record with R&B  but I wasn't impressed at all. I did enjoy some of the production though. Indifferent towards this new album and I'm not sure what they need to do next to even get me to listen to the future of this group.

Quick thoughts on what have I been listening to and my thoughts on upcoming albums

2021 has been slow when it comes to album releases. The summer hits, that's when things will pick up. in this past month, I've enjoyed albums from the likes of Armand Hammer, who dropped a collab project with the alchemist. Billy Woods who is one half of Armand is starting to become my top ten current MC's right now. The dark and grimy raps over Al's style of production just mixed perfectly like peanut butter and chocolate.

Would recommend it if you enjoy the current crop of underground rap. other albums I would suggest checking out are OH NO by  Xiu Xiu for experimental pop, seperentwithfeet new album "DEACON", who's one of my favorite queer singers right now, I love his gospel vocals over pop production. "Chemtrails Over The Country Club" by Lana Del Rey I really wanted to love, good record overall but didn't have the same impact I got when I heard 'NFR". Bieber's new album was an improvement from his last disaster. "Peaches" is in the top ten favorite tracks so far this year but the whole is meh. YBN Nahmir's new album sold 4,000 copies the first week. Bad album. If I to give out any more suggestions, I would check new albums from Pink Siifu, Gallant, Matt Ox, Genesis Owusu, and Black Country New Road.

When it comes to the new albums on the way, Conway is dropping this week at the time I'm writing this, Seems like Al is up to something at the end of the month, Baby Keem is teasing an album for the summer, and still no Drake news.

Wrestlemania 37 Night 1 and 2 thoughts

This the first WrestleMania in years I just wasn't all that hyped about. Every year I would ask for time off from work, cook good food, buy a bunch of beer, and even invite friends to watch. This year just didn't have that feeling, could be with all that shit going in the wrestling scene that still dark and not being dealt with and also the build for this shit was just lacking. I still gave the show a chance and overall....fine. Night's one card I had no interest but that card over delivered my god. Lashley vs Drew was a solid opener of a hoss match, Cesaro vs Rollins was a mid-late 2000's ROH match, just *chef kiss*. Omos made his in-ring debut and did alright for a big man, and Braun fucking murdered Shane O' Mac. Bad Bunny and Priest vs Morrison and Miz was the best celebrity match the company has done and overall just the best match with a celebrity. Mad props and respect to Bad Bunny, he's been open about being a fan, took time away from his music career, and worked long hours of the day to learn and respect the craft of pro wrestling. I really hope he comes back and does more things with the company. Banks vs Belair headline and man, I cried. Beautiful storytelling for both women, Favorite thing about the match was both women trying to stay in character but they were smiling and almost to tears. Just a masterclass match from both.

Night Two, I'm not feeling it. The matches were ok, everyone busted their ass but the finishes to the matches just felt flat beside two of them. I thought the Sheamus kicking Riddle's while attempting a lionsault was deadly and the main event was quite a shocker since I thought Edge was gonna win but Reigns winning is fine and he has many different options until fans or Brock comes back. Logan Paul's appearance was just pointless, Crews vs Big E finish was meh, and I have no clue what the fuck was that Fiend vs Orton match.

Wrestlemania 37 was an alright watch.

Spring Anime 2021 First Impressions

Winter anime season is over and it was pretty solid with shows ranging from Re Zero season 2, Wonder Egg, Quints, Jobless Reincarnation, and JJK cour 2. Promised Neverland season 2 was easily the worst of the season, possibly the entire year, I still don't how they could fuck that up but I digress. Spring is here and we even got way more shows to watch weekly/binge for this one and I noticed we get a lot of sci-fi, mech, and a few romances for this one. I am currently watching 13-14 seasonals and man it's a chore, all of them drop on the weekend so it does mess with my work schedule and weekly combat sports watch but I'll manage.

Not counting Fruits Basket final season, which has been very good thus far, there are three different shows I'll keep my eye on every week."86" is an anime that many of my mutuals online have been praising to check out, awhile those exceptions were set very high and honestly, they didn't meet them all the way, the show is very solid and off to a great start. The whole premise is there a war that's a war going on and they use these mechs/drones that are used by a group called "86" where they mainly being used as objects or animals being led by Shin also known as "The Undertaker" or "Reaper". 86 is mainly looked at by the Republic like animals and just use them but things change when an elite soldier name Lena takes over and treats as equals. I'm an anime-only for this one so I am hoping I don't get spoiled but this should be an interesting dynamic for a show.

"Vivy" is a humanoid and an AI teddy bear rewriting history to prevent a war from happening in the future so they go back in time and to fix the wrongs so the war doesn't, three episodes have dropped and I am really enjoying it. From the OST to the animation and the simple premise, it's a good watch. MEGALOBOX 2 when it was announced I was was surprised cause where can the show go from here but this is depressing. It takes place seven years later and gearless Joe now known as NoMad is a drug addict and defeated. He still does the underground fight scene but he ain't the same and still deals with the trauma from the first season. I do love me a good redemption and this should be it also the music is very beautiful and sad. Other reccs of shows you should check out this season are "To Your Eternity", "Nagatoro", "Pretty Boy Detective Club" and "SSSS.DYNAZENON".

Attack on Titan Ending

Still a good series, with great moments and twists but this last chapter.....nah. indifferent. This meme explains my whole thoughts.

Kyle's dream Jay-Z album review

So one day Kyle was mad bored and they decided to make up a dream Jay-Z album, I been thinking about this for a good bit and said hey let me give my thoughts on this. Now funny enough I can see Hov working with these artists and producers. Jay does have a good ear in the whole current crop of underground artists, Mach's last album was a tidal-only project, He's been seen with the Griesdla crew and Roc, so it makes sense this album can be true. One thing I did wonder is what would Hov rap about, "4:44" was him dealing with shit and the album he did with Beyonce was what it was. I think this one I think he would just go off and rap his ass off and spit his knowledge and his riches over sample loop beats. One suggestion I do have is to remove the Old Droog feature, I am not sure who you can replace him with but just having Hov by himself is still fine. The length is perfect too, I could see this being around 30-50 minutes. I could see this being in my top five if this was a true album. Hearing Hov rap along aside guys like Roc, Mach, and Griesdla seems like it could be a reality, hopefully, in the future because we do need Jay Music. great work Kyle, you have a bright future for the A&R game.
