Hello Everyone Robert Garcia aka Rob Reviews and 2016 is coming to an end. What a pretty eventful year it has been, to say the least. I want to say thank you guys so much for the support and everything on this page, Especially to my good friend Bradley who has inspired me to do a review blog. He has been a really great friend, to say the least. So with the year coming to an end, It's that time of the year where does their year-end list. I have done a year end list last couple of years but only been posted on Facebook and not a blog or anything. So for the first ever time I will be posting my year-end list on here. I will do three lists, Top 50 Favorite Albums, Top 25 Favorite Tracks, and this here you're currently reading my Top 10 Worst/Disappointing Albums of 2016. Album's that are on this list is the albums that were terrible or albums that I was highly hyped to hear and feeling disappointed with. With that introduction let's get started.
10. Views by Drake
This album I must say did very well for itself I can't deny that. Breaking records with streams and going four times platinum, Drake himself had another great year but I wouldn't say this album was god awful or trash but it was pretty lackluster and mid at best. The singles leading up to this weren't that good, some of the tracks were pretty decent at best and some of them leaks that were out that were pretty decent didn't even make the final tracklist when it was announced. Some the lyrics were pretty average and even at times cringe worthy, I know Drake did get exposed last year for having ghostwriters which it's not a bad thing or how Drizzy says it ting. However, He could've hired some better writers or maybe the six god could've written better lyrics. The whole trend with singers and rappers doing dancehall is a pretty heavy influence on here and its pretty vanilla. I remember going on social media and this album was getting mixed reviews even from die hard Drake fans who were pretty disappointed. It just baffled me a bit when he was making some of his best work in 2015 and then giving it us this. After the release of this project has dropped some pretty good and decent tracks as of late and he's planning to drop another project or a playlist as he called it titled More Life so I'm curious if More Life will be leftovers or worth wild new track, we will have to wait and see.
9. New English by Desiigner
I reviewed this mixtape earlier this year on here, I gave it a 5. Now I have gone back to listen to this mixtape awhile ago and man it did not age well and my thoughts and I have changed my opinions quite a bit. The project had more snippets than full songs, it felt pretty rushed as hell, and One or two tracks the worth enjoyable that weren't named Panda. Desiigner has been quiet for rest of the year after this and dropping Timmy Turner and has hopped on a few tracks here and there, So hoping Pusha, Kanye, and rest of GOOD Music help me out and being an influence to him and mentor him with his next project and have it be something worthwhile and haven't Mr.Panda man fade away....
8. 1992 by The Game
I had high hopes for this project, with the cover art and the concept behind it and Game did have a pretty good 2015 and dropped his best material in quite some time and after a few listens of this project I felt very disappointed. It did a couple of highlights here with some throwback vibes but halfway through the album falls apart. While it does have a nostalgic vibe but the lack of qualify makes the album skippable. The samples on here are quite lazy on here as well. So yeah I did have some high hopes on here since Game was doing well musically but this was very lackluster.
7. Purple Reign by Future
2015 was Future's year. The man himself was unstoppable with DS2 and What a Time To Be Alive with Drake, Future was 2015 Rapper MVP. So with the announcement back in January he was dropping a mixtape with the momentum he was riding, many fans and people including me were pretty excited. However, this mixtape was highly forgettable and left a lot of fans very disappointed. The production was nice from Metro and Wicked was a catchy song but a lot of the track were very lackluster and sounded like leftovers from DS2 and even some tracks on here felt lifeless and pretty rushed. Future did bounce back a bit when he dropped EVOL couple of later and did drop another tape with DJ Esco and an EP with Gucci Mane. He's planning to drop a sequel to Beast Mode sometime next and the snippets were previewed on OVO Sound Radio and were pretty decent so I'm curious to hear what Future is planning to do next.
6. Revolution Radio by Green Day
This is the only non-hip-hop/r&b album on this list, I must say a lot of pop punk bands from my youth that was around 90's to early 2000's and they were pretty terrible. This, however, is probably the best one that came out but it's still cringeworthy and terrible. I don't have too much to say I knew it was gonna be bad, I regret listening to this cause my curiosity got the best of me.
5. The Perfect Love Tape by Lil Uzi Vert
Lil Uzi Vert first couple projects he dropped before this were pretty solid. I know they were lyrically or "real hip hop" but they were a lot of fun projects to listen to. When he announced he was dropping this I was like oh cool and also like damn another project already since Lil Uzi vs The World was dropped two months ago before this dropped. This mixtape was pretty boring and felt rushed, lifeless, Uzi didn't sound he was putting too much effort. The mixtape was pretty forgettable and yeah I feel asleep during this and wasn't much fun like his previous work. Uzi did drop a collabo with Gucci and it was okay and did announce just recently his working on Luv is Rage 2 and is returning to his old flow from that project and a snippet of the track sounded decent so we will see if he can drop something fun again.
4.Introverted Intuition by Lance Skiiiwalker
To keep it short and sweet, this is TDE' worst album on the label, it's a sloppy mess, boring and put me to sleep, tried to be different and weird and failed. The vibe was trying to be cool and different but ended being just background noise.
3. Hellboy by Lil PEEP
I heard about this artist name float around for awhile, he had a couple of catchy tracks that were pretty decent at best. To be it bluntly, it's like if Aaron carter, Post Malone, mixed with terrible Bones tracks had a threesome and had a child, you get this, Angsty angry white boy with a Siri voice high off lean and xans. Just Terrible.
2. P3 by PARTYNEXTDOOR
I did a review for this album but was deleted cause I made a lot of grammar errors, I will say this again like I did in that review, This is the worst album that PND has dropped and worst album from OVO. Yeah OVO had somewhat of a year disappointing year according to some fans and critics but in my opinion, this is the worst album from the label. I'm not huge of PND but his previous two projects were okay at best but this right here, this was super boring, nothing stood out to me at all, terrible dancehall type music, soulless, generic PR&B music from that genre.
1. Always Strive And Prosper by A$AP Ferg
*Sigh* yeah this album. Easily my worst and disappointing album of this year. I was hyped for this album cause the trap lord with two previous projects that were great and a couple of the singles had some promise to them but damn man this was pretty horrendous. It always can be very hit or a miss when an artist tries to go to a commercial sound but I don't understand why would Ferg hop on the EDM Trap wave. The hooks on these tracks were god awful and annoying, lyrics were bad, his flow on here was a bit off production was god awful and lackluster guest verse from Missy Elliot, like how? He said he reinvented himself but maybe he needs to go back to old self. It still baffles me that I waited to hear this album and I got this, I know he did say he's planning to go back to his sound from Trap Lord on his next mixtape that's planning to be dropped sometime in 2017 so I'm praying to the trap lord that he blesses us again with the old Ferg and not this sound again.
